A blog about my efforts to be a little more sustainable than I am, to be a little more independent than I am, to live a little better, in the Chicago suburbs.

Still Harvesting
Potatoes from a bucket on the deck. Onions that were still in the ground. Carrots from the garden. Some organic beef and celery. Stew. So yummy! So filling on an overcast, cool day.
I can almost taste it! It is cool and overcast here as well. Today we salvaged the remaining tomatoes, picked what will probably be the last of the cucumbers for the season, and pinched off a selection of peppers and herbs. Then we gave the grass a trim. The roast with potatoes, carrots, and parsnips is already on the stove.
